Beauty Tryout!

It’s been so long since I wrote a product review! I did have some reviews on the draft but I think I’m not going to publish them anymore because they seem a bit outdated already.

Anyway, I’m back on here again because I finally have more time for blogging during my spare time (okay, maybe not but I’m going to try my best and post at least one review every month).

After being stuck at home for two months during quarantine, I definitely rushed to a Watsons near me because I’ve been stretching out my beauty products for so long. And as I was looking at the body lotion section, I saw this Myra Classic Moisturizing Vitamin Lotion.

I think what made me buy it was that my mom is a loyal Myra E (the vitamin supplement) user and she swears that it makes her skin more glowing and youthful. So I grabbed one bottle and decided to try it out. After a month and two weeks, I finally emptied it!

First impression: the scent is so overwhelming!

Upon opening the cap, you can already smell its perfumey scent. I don’t know exactly how to describe it but it doesn’t smell pleasant to me. My mom used it and I could smell it from our living room. It was that strong.

What I like the most about this is that it works! From having dry and uncared for skin during quarantine, I was able to bring back moisture with this lotion.

At the back, you can see that it has the Beauty Vitamins as well as Grape Seed Oil that nourish the skin. I was a bit skeptical at first because I thought that this was just a bit of marketing but when I tried it on my skin, it really felt moisturized and hydrated.

The texture of the lotion is lightweight but sometimes it feels a bit sticky on the skin when the weather gets hot and humid. It might not be the case for you though, because I sweat a lot.

The lotion quickly absorbs on the skin when applied, which is really a plus for me. I mainly use this at night after I shower but sometimes I also use it in the morning whenever my arms and elbows feel a bit drier.

Overall, this is a good lotion for its price. I believe it's Php 200+ for a 175g bottle (Please correct me if I am wrong!) and it really does the job it claims, which is to moisturize. The only thing I do not like is the scent and that is a bit of a dealbreaker for me.

Would I repurchase again? Sadly, no. I just can't take the scent and I just kept on using it for the sake of this review. Perhaps if the scent gets reformulated I would. But for now, I'll pass.

If you're not too keen on scents though and would like a lotion that really moisturizes the skin, then you should try Myra Classic Moisturizing Vitamin Lotion!

Annyeonghaseyo!

I've always been fond of makeup since I had my junior prom. So last Christmas 2016, a close friend of mine gave me a lipstick from Mumuso because she knows that I love lippies in general.

She got me the Mumuso Soft Lipstick in shade #03. When you look at it, it somewhat looks a little bit red orange but when you put it on your lips, you can observe that it is more orange than red.

This lipstick has two ends - one for the product itself and the other end has a tool for smudging.

At first, I didn't really expect this to be retractable but to my surprise it was! I don't have photos of it fully out because I feel like it will break or I won't be able to return it to its original  retracted state. Additionally, it doesn't have any scent to it.

I swatched this on my wrist under natural lighting from my bedroom window.

I've decided to wear this on our first day of classes because I think that the pop of color brightens up my face, even though I felt too sleepy for my 7:30 am class.

Photo taken at around 7:30 am. Used just one swipe.
When I first applied it on my lips, I was immediately impressed by how smooth the application was. There was no tugging involved.

I also liked how it was a bit sheer upon application and was not very pigmented. For me, this is a good aspect because the color is very bright (well, for me anyways). It being a sheer lippie makes it easier for me to control the color as I am still a bit cautious on wearing bold lips.

Around 20 minutes or so after application, I really felt that my lips were drying up so bad. By 11 am, my lips were super chapped.

You can't really see it in the photo but my lips were so dry.

Next, I ate lunch with the hopes that this lipstick will stay on my lips. Sadly, it did not. After my first bite, I saw that this lipstick transferred on my disposable spoon.

The longevity of the product is just for a short period of time. You have to reapply constantly even if you're just drinking or speaking.

Photo taken at around 11:45 am.

After eating, there was still a tinge of the lipstick but it already became patchy. Because this lippie is drying, I had to remove everything off of my lips and then proceeded to reapply lip balm.

PROS:
  • Nice shade
  • Smooth application
  • No scent
CONS:
  • Very drying
  • Not long lasting

SCORE:

3/5 stars:
Would not purchase again because it really dried my lips out. The shade was nice though.

Have you tried anything from Mumuso? Let me know below what you think!

Annyeonghaseyo!

I became interested in Korean beauty, especially the 10-step Korean skincare routine about a year ago and to be really honest, I was so overwhelmed by all the brands out there. We have Tony Moly, Etude House, The Face Shop and Nature Republic near my area and I was so confused as what I was supposed to buy.

So I did a lot of researching and reading as to what beauty bloggers recommended and I saw that the Rice Water Bright line from The Face Shop had generally good reviews so I decided to buy and try the cleansing foam.

I got this cleanser from ph.althea.kr for Php 300. There is 150 ml of product inside the tube. I like products that come in a tube because they are more hygienic than products in tubs.

Here are the ingredients and directions on how to use.

First up, I noticed how a little goes a long way with this cleanser. It's been around 4 months since I started using this (I finished my cleanser from Pond's first) and I must say that there is still enough product for me to last at least 2 months.

What I like to do is take a small amount on my hand, make it foam then put it on my face.

Here are the photos of my face before, during and after I used the foam cleanser. All three photos are taken at the same place and same time frame.

Unlike the foam cleansers that I had from Western brands, this was definitely less drying but I still did feel a bit of tightness on my face. It didn't bother me though because I have oily skin but if you're normal-dry, this cleanser might dry out your skin.

I usually use this foam cleanser at night because my serums and moisturizers balance the dryness of my skin after using. I don't usually use this in the morning because the weather in my country does not permit too much layering of product on my face. I'll look like an oil slick 3 hours in.

The scent for me is a bit mild. I cannot fully explain what it smells like but it does smell a bit like rice! Whenever I get a whiff of the scent the words 'clean' and 'spa' pops into my mind. For people who do not like scents in general, I do not recommend this product.

For its brightening claim, I have to say that yes it does brighten my skin but only for a short while. And by short, I mean around 5 minutes only. I think you can see it in the photos above (or not?).

To sum it all up:

Likes:

  • Fresh scent
  • Very foamy; I don't need to use a lot of products
  • Price
  • Comes in a tube
Dislikes:
  • A bit drying on my skin
  • Doesn't really brighten long-term

Rating: 3.5/5

Repurchase?: Sadly, no. It does clean my skin but it dries it out and the brightening effect only lasts for a while.

Love,
Ammabs
